Here's another lesson inspired by our zen master Eva.
There is no single story or moment that defines this idea. Instead, it is something I see reflected in her presence, in the way she looks at me with calm acceptance, as if reminding me to soften where I tend to be too hard on myself.
It is the idea of seeing yourself through the eyes of your pet. Stepping outside of judgment, even briefly, and remembering that you are still worthy while you are learning, growing, and figuring things out.
To be honest, this is the hardest lesson for me. I struggle with it. Sometimes I resist it completely. But it is also one of the most important truths in this entire series.
You do not have to be perfect and you do not have to have everything figured out before you begin.
Mistakes are part of being human. Growth requires trying, and trying requires courage. Even showing up, even taking the first step, even continuing when things feel uncertain, all of that matters.
Softness toward yourself is part of healing. So give yourself grace. Not because everything is easy, but because you are doing your best with what you have in this moment.
You are allowed to be a work in progress.
